No I didn't get them there (we'll that I know of yet! bwahahaha), because we ate crab at Joe's Crab Shack. They just do them right and what you order, you get just enough with a little to pass on (like I did to an old acquaintance and his mother who just happened to be coming in as we were finishing our meal. I hate to let stuff waste and it was good crab! So I asked if they wanted it and, of course, they did.
Keith, has recently learned to enjoy the high society skill of eating with your hands and having food all over you when doing so! He loves it! The first time we went to eat crab together was for our anniversary. He knew I'd ben craving it and that was his suprise for me and who could have had anything better! Now I think was our anniversary, maybe it was my birthday - I don't remember dates well, but I do remember moments and that's the important thing, right!? Well, except his birthday - I better remember that or we're through for sure! - love ya, babe, but on with the story). Needless to say, you can not eat crab legs without getting food all over you. And screw working with those little forks! I mean, really! What's the point. You still have to get dirty!
So, I'm served, and I dug in! And I mean DUG! Keith had this huge smile on his face and loved every minute of my enjoying my food so much that I had it all in my beard, butter and crab and all down my arms from where it leaks when you crack into a fresh steaming heap of legs. And sucking your fingers and licking off the Old Bay seasoning is part of the ritual! And did I mention the better-than -sex look on my face from eating them. Yeah, food is so much better than sex for me! LOL Don't get me wrong, sex is great, BUT The stomache IS the way to the heart!
So we ate, finished our meal, and I ran into an old acquaintance and his mother and I offered them the last bit set of legs I had as it was going to go to waste had I not. We then headed over to Garden Ridge as I've not been in YEARS and I love to shop and you can always find something nice, if you look for it. We found some bedding that suited, even if not my favorite choice for textiles, but the color was right. I'm not much for synthetics. I prefer natural fibers, They just act better for the most part and feel so much nicer too! But anyway, It's a cheap fix for a problem now. And so are the chairs we found. And the, Rug, well, it tocked for the price! I can't wait to go back and get the chairs and rug! The living room will then be a step closer to completion! I love creating a home! Keith was almost in tears last night when I made the bedroom up from the new items we bought. He stood there and looked at it and took it all in while I was doing something else. I came in and he said to me, "You know what? You really know how to make a house a home." and his eyes got teary. And of course, I made fun of him, but that's just the ass in me. LOL I have this inate ability to not let folks feel too much sometimes. (comes from my not wanting to feel too much myself as I've always been extremely sensitive and teased merciliessly about it. Even by my family. (Yeah, sad thing huh?) I know!
From there, we decided to go the traveling carnival! Keith wanted fresh spun, on the cone, cotton candy, but all they had was bags and bagged cotton candy just sucks butt! It's not at all like the fresh spun, melt in your mouth, goodness that we fell in love with as kids. (So much of that has changed out of folk fear of contamination from just such things - dunking for apples! I LOVED that as a kid, but now we're left with just picking up rubber ducks to see what numbers are underneath and tell us which prize we win). Oh well, another digression! LOL I do that a lot!)
We eneded up riding a few rides: The Tornado, which is designed to make you sick. The Hemalaya (or something like that), designed to make two folks get closer, and then the Ferris Wheel, but it's went way to fast to really enjoy it AND the baskets had seats that faced the spokes rather than the outside. So, that wasn't as enjoyable as I would have liked but we did have a good time. Just before leaving we had to have fresh, fried corn dogs, on which mine had extra "corn". "Ain't nothing wrong with a little free corn!", I told her when she mentioned not to go selling them to anyone due to her jjust learning to make them.
We ended up giving our last few ride tickets to a family with children. Mother was gracious and accepted them readily. Who wouldn't?
Peace and Fun Houses, ya'll!
Okay folks. Next weekend is the apple festival. It's time to go celebrate the fall and the fruits mother nature has provided for us.

Check it out!!!
We're headed up that Saturday with some friends. Come an enjoy!
Okay. I love fall and have just shorn down the mismatched azelias in front of the house and have to drag them to the side where I pile our clippings. Not a great deal of work, but it's necessary and it is a gorgeous day out. I need to go enjoy it after lunch.
I also took a few more photos of the pumpkins we purchased this past week at Burt's. I highly recommend the drive for a trip to the mountains and this pumpkin patch. I was thinking you got to actually get you pumpkins off the vine, but I as wrong. We don't do that kind of stuff any longer in America. For shame! If I had the property, I would in a heartbeat!
So, I guess that's my next big goal. Finding land on which to build my own home, with my own hands, and create a nice community garden spot, my garden spot where I can sell the fruits of my labors and create a pumpkin patch for folks to come and pick and clip their own pun'kins!
Oh and those are black walnuts on the ground in the photo above. They've been falling off the tree in our yard the past two weeks. Time for harvest! and I can't wait for the pecans to come down. I need to see how to deal with a nut harvest though. I've never done it and I don't know what to do to them when they are ready. I'll post that info later. Holler if you do know! :)
How many of us love the fall? I know I do! The festivals, the holidays, folks decorating their homes, raking leaves, brown bags full of them on the curb, the pumpkins, the apples, the pears and the pies. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the clothes that we get to wear, the piles of leaves we get to jump into and roll around in and the feeling that the hot summer days of the south are over and we get to look forward to cooler nights, open windows, halloween and thanksgiving.
I love them! And here's a list of those in and near Tennessee. for those who wish to travel a ways.
