Sealed the deal with the dudes at WonderRoot, and I am now officially scheduled to teach the first Intro to Handbuilding Ceramics class on Thursday, Jan 22. They just added a ceramics studio to their program which already includes classes in music recording, beat making, digital art stuff, old school photography, and all kinds of other cool things. The class is for absolute, total beginners, or maybe people who have studio experience, but haven’t practiced in a few years and want to get their hands back in the clay.I've been making pinch pots since 1982, because I love how basic and primitive and good it feels to make something with one ball of clay, and my hands. I love how I don't need tools or equipment or a lot of space. Plus, I love how I can walk around the studio while I make them, or even dance if I feel like it.Sometimes I add little feet so the pinch pot stands up a little. Sometimes I poke holes in the bottom so I can put little plants in there. Sometimes I smooth out the thumbprints and paint rainbow designs on the outside. There's a lot of fun things to do with pinch pots, I tell you.
